Nettle Homemade Shampoo for Hair Growth & Thicker Hair

I’m sharing this nettle homemade shampoo for hair growth in the hope that it will help those who want to strengthen their hair.

I have decided to try natural options because I’m losing hair by leaps and bounds and the older I get the more hair I lose so I have been experimenting with homemade hair recipes in the hope that I can find something that works for me.

I don’t use shop-bought hair shampoos because they have harsh chemical ingredients that damage the hair and scalp in the long run.

So here it goes.

Homemade Shampoo For Hair Growth | Best All Natural Shampoo For Hair Loss

You can enjoy some peace of mind by making your own hair growth shampoo in the comfort of your home.

This DIY essential oil shampoo recipe has powerful natural ingredients that are known to stimulate hair growth.

Note: Make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients used. Also consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking any medications.

Ingredients You Will Need

The bottle I used to store the shampoo is 250 ml, but I have some shampoo left, so you could use a container of 350 ml or 2 bottles. Make a small amount if you are not going to use a preservative, and use it within 2 days. Keep it in the fridge.

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh stinging nettle-infused water
  • 3/4 cup organic Castile liquid soap
  • 1/4 teaspoon castor, coconut oil, or olive oil
  • 3 drops rosemary oil
  • 3 drops peppermint essential oil
  • Broad-spectrum preservative (check the instructions for the preservative you are using).

I like to use lavender or rose essential oil to give the shampoo a nice scent, but you can use any other essential oil you want. Sometimes the aromas don’t combine well together, so pick wisely.

How to Make It and Use It

1 – Get all the ingredients you need ready.

3 – Strain the water. You can use a cheesecloth or a colander. I like to use a spoon to get all the goodness out of the nettle leaves.

9 – Take a small amount on your hands and on wet hair, lather the mixture, and massage into the scalp for 2 minutes. Then leave it for another 3 minutes. Repeat if necessary.

10 – Rinse off thoroughly with lots of water and towel dry to get rid of excess water.

11 – Apply a natural or organic conditioner and rinse again.

12 – If possible, dry your hair naturally, as heat can damage the hair.

13 – Once your hair is dried you can apply a leave-in conditioner if you have skipped step 11.

Avocado oil is widely known as a hair remedy. It stimulates blood flow and unclogs blocked follicles. It is also rich in vitamins B and E which work at the cellular level to strengthen hair.

Avocado oil also repairs damaged scalp which may prevent hair growth.

  1. Can you share your experience as to which one of these amazing DIY masks/shampoos are the most efficacious regarding hair growth and hair condition??? Thank you so very much !!!!!!

    1. Thanks for stopping by. To stimulate hair growth I like to use the nettle shampoo recipe, but you need to be consistent to get good results. Any hair mask containing natural ingredients like bananas, aloe vera, honey, avocado, egg, butter, and oils are great to hydrate and condition the hair. The best thing is to try one recipe a week and see which one yields the best results for your hair type.

      1. Hi,
I love the recipe and I really want to try it out. My only concerne is that once applied to the hair the nettle would sting to much to handle. I would really like to know your experience. 🙂

PS: I am not native english speaker, but I hope you understand my comment.
